Digital eye strain (DES), or Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS), are a group of eye and vision-related problems resulting from the use of computers, smart phones, and other digital devices for prolonged periods of time. Some of the symptoms include the following:

  • Eyestrain / tired and burning eyes

  • headache

  • difficulty focusing on nearby objects

  • sensitivity to light and glare

  • neck, shoulder and back soreness

  • watering or tearing of the eyes

  • double vision

  • blurred vision at different distances

Because smartphones and computers have become ubiquitous to our lives, more people are at risk for developing digital eye strain. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, consult with your primary care eye doctor.
